After months of very difficult negotiations, the direction of France television tore, mid-August, an arbitration of its authorities on the question of its budget. The departments of Budget and communication have been convinced to a financial move for France television, with an increase in the fee of 2.5, 1.879 million euros, for the 2007 fiscal year. In 2006, the increase was limited to 2.1.

Reduction of costs
The other source of funding for the group, advertising which accounts for one third of the budget overall should also reserve of good surprises. France television is, indeed, growth in advertising revenues nearly 5.2, EUR 40 million, to $ 800 million. This surplus arises, for 30 million, the opening of the prohibited sectors (including large distribution), while a 10 million would be attributable to the growth of the market.
With the increase of its resources, France television has promised the State shareholder to add a cost reduction effort. Thus, the Group should reach between 40 and 45 million euros in savings per year from 2007. And, over the next five years, the duration of the contract of objectives and means (COM). This last, subject to intense negotiations since long months, should be signed by the end of the year. It must be said that acceptance of the budget 2007, the first official year of the COM, to unblock the situation.
To achieve these savings, the Group should establish a new internal organization would define procedures to coordinate and share between the different chains certain expenses, including technical and computer means. The direction of France television is categorical: these savings will be without merging to the editors of France 2 and France 3, neither plan termination.
In total, France television should benefit from additional room for manoeuvre of EUR 127 million for fiscal year 2007. This will allow him to launch the first investments in production in high definition with the purchase of 2 cars of HD production and conversion of two existing cars in HD. The objective is to be ready in July, to produce and disseminate the France Tower in HD. The group will also continue its investments in the captioning of its programs (already almost half are) and, finally, France Televisions will be able to invest in the French audiovisual creation. Patrick de Carolis had promised to devote EUR 100 million over five years.
